Ok, I (finally, truly) get the whole group/live streaming thing. There are still a couple quirks to make this incredible (mostly audio for the audience and connection related for the hosts), but this was awesome to be a part of and witness live.
On Saturday, April 11, 2020, in the midst of the US (and the world) being under quarantine, RZA and DJ Premier went on Instagram Live to battle back and forth with 20 songs they each produced.
Between watching the performance itself, of two masters with deep catalogues and deep personal respect for one another playing hits back to back, to the comments from high profile fans and random others, this was a completely unique/only on the internet experience. Pure joy. I feel like some version of the future I’ve been waiting forever for finally arrived.
